Thank you for posting that..
I downloaded it to my phone, but when its done downloading and comes to the screen where it says Open or Done at the bottom of the screen, Open is grayed out and I can not seem to access it anywhere on the phone...
I have tried to go in and set it up like i did with Better Keyboard and that does not work either.
What do you think?

Glad you got it, now I expect that you will be the one to give us a full review  Cool

I have not tried it myself, mostly because I like the HTC keyboard and have no real desire to switch. Apparently there are some bugs, can you let us now how bad they are and if you think that this is an overall good choice for a replacement kb.

Awesome post!
Ive been waiting for the release for a couple of weeks!
Ive used another version of Swype. I forget what ots called. but it sucked anyways lol.

Im actually using swype (from the link you posted) to type out this reply. Its pretty cool. Will definitely take some getting used to, and i probably wont use it as my default keyboard. But its cool to have to show people.
Lol
Maybe in the future, updated versions, it will feel better, but i am going back to the Aria' keyboard. It just seems to work so much better than all of the downloadable ones lol.

Heres a tip while using swype:
When typing words like cool, better, call, etc.. with the same letter twice right next to eachother, try drawing a small circle on top of that letter and continue swyping. That works best for me Smiley

Here is the Swype install instructions from a different forum:

1. (if for some reason it downloads as .zip, just change the file extension to .apk)
2. Transfer to your Aria via USB
3. Settings -> Application settings -> Check Unknown sources (You all prob have done this before but my friends had not so I thought I would mention it anyways)
4. Use a file manager program such as Astro File Manager and go to the location you stored the .apk
5. Install
6. After install go to Settings -> Locale & Text -> Check Swype
7. Disable Audio Warnings as it seems to give errors as well located at Phone settings -> Locale & text -> Swype
8. Open any email/text client and hold down the text box and you will get a popup asking what you want for input. Select Swype. You only have to do this once and it will do it for all your programs.
9.Reboot your phone. This seems to help in not having any FC's

I recommend reading the tutorial. Helped me. This is very sick. I now love one handed emailing and texting as its so simple.

Great Walkthrough superchaos!

there is a slightly quicker way to do it...
I just went to the link that was posted in the first post, while on my incredible, and downloaded it straight from there.. No need to USB transfer Smiley
That should get rid of steps 1-4 from superchaos' post Smiley

Thanks for the tuto chaos! Have a cookie.

You reminded me that I should say that I have nothing to do with the porting of this app, I simply brought the link over here. All credit to the hard working people who ported.

And yes it is much easier to just dl the file straight to the phone.

It is a really good app. The company refuses to sell it in the market and they are insisting on making the phone manufacturers have it as a preloaded install. Guess they would rather have 100K copies on all phones whether people use it or not than sell 20K copies to people on the market.

They claim the beta version will expire and be useless but they will not say when. I opened the program with a Java decompiler but was unable to find an install log that would lead to an expiration date. There is a call to schemas.android.com but android.com says that subdomain has been closed.

That means if there is a class file calling there for an expiration, it is unable to execute it for now.

This app is a battery killer while it is being used.

It was designed for one finger texting/typing and for people with disabilities. You are also able to use it as a tap and type like a normal KB. It really speeds my typing up since my fat thumbs usually tap the wrong letter anyways unless I am on the landscape KB.

Well, I am loving this app... I think mostly because I am a 'sloppy texter'.  My fingers are not fat, but they are all over the place, so being able to just 'swype' a word out works so well for me. I love it.  I have not noticed that it make a difference on my battery life, but then again, yesterday was the day I d/l'd the app and was also a very heavy use day for my phone... I dunno  Roll Eyes  I will keep an eye on that more now that you mention it...
Other than that, I dont have any complaints really, I am pretty impressed.  Undecided

I loaded it today after seeing a story on the news. I am new to texting and hate hunting and pecking at the keyboard. After a few minutes messing around with it i got the hang of it and I like it for now. Worth a try anyway.
