I bought the Aria paying the non-contract price of ~$400.  I loved the phone, the size, the customization capabilities, the speed, etc., etc.  BUT - I couldn't hear the ringtones unless I was in a quiet environment, in-call volume was very "iffy" unless you checked  the "hearing aid" setting, and the speakerphone is absolutely useless!  In reading reviews of the phone on other forums prior to putting down $400 for it I found several comments that referred to audio issues but was just hoping their problems were just their specific phones and not pervasive across many of the phones.

Wrong!  Admittedly there are many reviews and comments that owners indicated they could hear the various audio aspects with no problem.  But that doesn't alleviate the problem that many owners (like myself) had.  And - at least according to current medical standards - I'm not hard of hearing !!!

There are tons of reasons why various owners don't like or can't get along with any phone - but low audio issues sure shouldn't be among them in my opinion.  As users we can turn the volume down - but if the phone doesn't let us we sure can't turn it up !!!

I loved the phone but returned it - you lost a sale !

Yeah - silly me.  ATT did lose a sale on the Aria - but it didn't really impact them because they got a sale on the replacement phone that I bought instead!  But I don't think it was ATT that limited the audio volume on the Aria - at least HTC Customer Service had indicated the volume level on the Aria was their "standard" level ...
