yes, if youare using the stock apps, go into menu-settings-sound & display, you will have the option to pick a notification sound which relates to email and such.

To change your message notification sound, open up and view all messages then press menu-settings-notification sound and change it there for your messages.

you can also open up & view all email then go to menu-settings-notification sound and shut the sound on and off....

Hope this helps

You can also create your own Notification Tones using the RingDroid app. Smiley

There is a built-in ringtone app on the Aria. I have not used it but I came across it somehow or another. If I remember correctly you can play a song in the music player and then press menu and you will have an option to set as ringtone. I can't confirm this now as I don't have my phone with me but maybe someone else knows of this or can test it out real quick and see what they come up with.

You're so right! There appears to be a ringtone trimmer and even a little advice. I went a little further and searched thru my music collection for what I thought would be a cool set of ringtones/notifications. Then I downloaded a freeware app named Audacity, a pretty good sound editor. From there I loaded the clips I wanted, edited them in Audacity (added fade ins and fade outs, amplified "wimpy" clips etc) and then exported them as MP3s. I emailed/transferred the MP3s to the Aria, opened them in Ringdroid and saved them as ringtones. Wha la - mega ringtones! Just watch you don't violate any copyright laws by sharing them with all your friends. Remember Napster!   Undecided

There are several apps on the market that will let you customxie emails, text, etc.  Try mabilo, ringoid or zedge.

Let me explain better.  What I'm looking for is when I get an email from a particular contact, I want a distinctive ringtone etc. so I know it's them.  When I set a different ringtone on my contact list, it plays the default ringtone all of the time.  Blackberry Storm would let you choose a distinctive ringtone for your EMAIL contacts... Sad  I'm bummed. Cry

Hmm - I've not seen where the Aria will do that. You can set a notification for "e-mail" but I don't think it goes farther than that except in the ringtone dept.
