ok, i downloaded the sdk pack and saved to desktop, i clicked on the sdk.exe and downloaded the 1.5 and 2.1 files.

I cant figure out what he means about the usb driver and if i click on ddms in the tools folder nothing happens.

I also dont see the ddms file in the 1.5 or 2.1 tools folders

The drive should automatically install when you connect your device, if you are able to mount your SD or use sync then you already have the drivers.

If you downloaded everything that you need then you should have this file path...

android-sdk_r04-windows|android-sdk-windows|tools|ddms

you shouldn't have to do anything with the .exe files.  ddms is a MS Dos file, when you click it you will open a user interface.

I have not done this in a long time so I just spiting out a few things from memory but if you don't have the file path from above then you haven't dl'd everything that you need.

Where ever you downloaded or extracted it to, by default it would download in to the downloads folder unless you changed it.

No you don't need to do anything on the phone at all. So when you open the files that you downloaded you can't find a tools folder?

I thought I had a PM with better instructions from eddieversatile but I can't find it  Shocked

Ok just to explain better

I download the sdk to PC desktop
I extract the zip file to the desktop
I click on sdk setup & download the 1.5 and 2.1 packages
Then i go back into the android-sdk-windows folder and click on tools folder and then click on ddms and nothing happens.

I have the phone connected, it has debugging checked. (i can sync and mount my phone so drivers are good)

Do i mount the phone or put it in sync mode?

By the way im using windows 7 ultimate 64bit

Oh, well this is going well beyond my area of knowledge, I am the phone guy not the computer guy  Grin I suspect then that the problem may be related to either Java or Microsoft .net framework. I am not sure how this type of file runs because I really don't know much about this stuff but I would make sure that you have the latest version of Java and Microsoft .net framework. I honestly don't even know how those might play a part but I have had similar problems in the past and those 2 seem to be the things hanging me up. Hopefully a computer geek comes along to offer some more advice on that. Long live the phone geek!

Windows 7 is even further out of my knowledge base, I have never even seen it  Smiley

No problem, I scored the night off work and I would be doing nothing else but writing a long a$$ nursing theory paper anyway. I really should write that paper. Good luck man! The worst part fir me is if you get it working and post some screenies I can't even seem them cause my forum profile got all jacked up somehow.

been at work all day and couldn't post.

Im not sure what could be the problem Jrocker.  I know that if you don't have java installed it will cause some issues.

ALSO.  YOU MUST HAVE YOU PHONE PLUGGED INTO YOUR COMPUTER AND MUST TURN ON USB DEBUGGING BEFORE YOU TRY TO RUN THE DDMS FILE.

have turned on usb debugging?

Thanks for posting the screen shots darkside.  Very nice.  I guess I need to try pandahome again and try open home.
thanks.  And yes in my opinion home replacements are worth it.  Ya the HTC sense has awesome potential.  But as of right now there are better home replacements that are easy to configure and look good.

I have to have my phone in sync mode. It will not show in charge mode or sd mount.
